Role
Creative Direction, Publication Design
The objective of the brief was to design a publication to reach out to, and communicate with, a client’s audience. The information and message should be communicated clearly using either a print, web or digital publication, using suitable typographic hierarchy, grid, colour palette and supporting design elements
A print publication was created to pre-press standard
With the focus for the publication being for women in design, the publication aims to discuss women working in an an industry which had predominantly been inhabited by males
The publication takes the theme of an self-written interview (information derived from various sources) and showcases the work, processes, their day-to-day routines, diverse career pathways and valuable advice from three of the most influences woman graphic designers in the world today
Each page is an 120gsm pageweight and has a very natural and authentic touch
The chosen colours are quite strong and bold, with the red and blue taken from the iconic “Rosie the Riveter” image, one of America’s most potent symbols of female empowerment, courage and individuality.
These colours were chosen for the magazine to showcase the featured designers, their independence and their accomplishments in working in this industry
